Studio Director
Kristin Werner –Hons. B.A., C.D.T.A., DMA TTS Assoc. Grad.
Kristin is the owner and a teacher at Star Performance Academy. Kristin enjoys teaching Recreation and Competitive classes in Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Stretch&Strength, Combo classes (like 5stars and Kinderstars), Musical Theatre, and Song&Dance at Star, as well as Recreational Hip Hop, and Modern Dance. She is also the director and a choreographer for the Dance Team. She is certified to teach Tap and Jazz styles through the Canadian Dance Teachers Association and Dance Masters of America. She has completed her Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in Drama, with an Option in Fine and Performing Arts from the University of Waterloo. Kristin’s love for dance and theatre started at age 3, while watching her older sister dance. She continued to develop this love of dance while training at High School, University and studios in the K-W region, competing locally, nationally and internationally, and performing as a singer/dancer/lead in community and University musicals. She is a gold and silver medalist, as well as a solo and duet finalist from the IDO World Tap Dance Championships. She was resident choreographer for the K-W Children’s Drama Workshop from 2005-2006 for four productions, and also enjoys teaching dance workshops at local High Schools. Kristin continues her dance education through workshops at C.D.T.A. and DMA, teacher seminars like VIBE, teacher conventions in New York City, Las Vegas and classes at Broadway Dance Center in New York City. Her passion for dance has grown into a passion for teaching dance, as she passes her love for the arts to her students.
